How To Select The Right Size Fire Bowls For Your Swimming Pool
USA Fire Bowls
There are four (4) factors that determine the size of a fire bowl that will look best for your pool:
1. the size of your pool
2. width of the coping or pedestal cap
3. distance from inside back of house to pool
4. personal aesthetic preferences
Fire bowls are usually mounted on the pool’s “coping” or “raised pedestals” or on long, straight bond beams around the pool.
In most cases, you want the fire bowl(s) to be seen from inside the back of your house but not so much as to overpower the size of the pool.
If your fire bowl(s) will NOT include a water feature (scupper or sheer descent) then the sizing is only for aesthetics and not critical for proper operation.
If your preferred fire bowl(s) WILL include a water feature then the sizing is much more important so that the water flows properly from the fire bowl into your pool.
Sizing Your Fire Bowl(s) Step-by-Step
Step #1 – measure the width of the coping where you intend to install the fire bowl(s). [show image with arrows to help]
Step #2 – select either a ready-to-ship fire bowl color or choose a custom fire bowl color-matched to your swimming pool’s stone and tile.
Step #3 – select an edge-style you would like for your fire bowl – we offer vertical face edge and knife-edge fire bowls (ready-to-ship or custom color-matched).
Step #4 – select a fire bowl size that is within 1″ or 2″ of the coping cap size (this is vital if you want a built-in water feature in the fire bowl). This can be one or two inches shorter or longer than the coping.
Step # 5 – choose a built-in water feature and other options you may desire (gas or propane, auto-ignitor, canvas cover, mounting kit, etc.).
Step # 6 – install your fire bowl(s) and enjoy the dazzling beauty of fire and water.
